Do Not Use Deet To Repell Chiggers

Folks will use almost anything to stop Chiggers, ticks and other vermin from applying their trade of mayhem and injury.

The effects can range from mild momentary itching bumps to severe swelling, fever, inability to breath to even death. Yes, the records show approximately 100+ folks die each year from insect bites. Because of the annoyance and in some cases life threatening effects of these bites and stings folks are turning to fight them off with their insect repellant of choice.

Precautions so be taken to avoid bites and stings before going into the critters territory. Stinger can be brushed off, not squeezed and pulled off. Ticks and chiggers can be treated with some for of anti itch formula. Ticks can be taken off with dish soap and a cotton ball. Apply the soap to the cotton ball and set it over the tick for short spell then when removed the tick should come with it. No nasty heads left behind and no excess poison squeezed into the bite.

Most commercial insect repellants chosen to detour insect attacks contains a chemical known as DEET. DEET can be applied in spray form or ointment directly to the skin and clothing in concentration up to 100% by volume.

While millions of dollars are spent annually extolling the virtues of these various repellants, not one will tell you of the potentially devastating side effects of DEET.

WARNING!!! Do NOT use DEET for a Chigger repellant!

The findings recent research and not so recent research on DEET should be enough to make you squirm. Duke University revealed that DEET is responsible for behavioral changes and even brain cell death with frequent use. Prolonged continuous exposure of DEET to children and the aged is DANGEROUS. If it is dangerous to them, maybe is also dangerous to middle aged men and women also.

Human skin will absorb any kind of toxic and non toxic substance applied to it. IN SECONDS!

Chigger Bites are a small price to pay compared to the side effects of DEET.

DEET is responsible for producing the following side effects to users even years later after being exposed. Severe memory loss, seizures, headaches, muscle and joint pain, shortness of breath, tremors, fatigue, weakness and even death. WARNING! Insects are not the only thing that should avoid DEET!

Please do not expose your children to this nasty chemical. Find some form of natural insect repellants that is harmless. It may be less long term effective, but your health is at stake here. If you must use it, apply it only to clothing and never to the skin. If you it does get on the skin, wash it off immediately if not sooner, please.
